Welcome Baby Cambridge!

I’m sure you have all heard the news by now:

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm. The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz.

The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.

Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.

Wooooo!!! Excitement!!!

Now of course, there the question of what the little one will be called. For what it’s worth, I’m thinking George Charles Philip Michael, but if it was me, I’d name him Edmund Philip Charles Henry. The most popular names for royal princes in the last hundred years or so are:

Royal Boys Names

And then there’s the waiting for the first pictures as the Duke and Duchess emerge with their little prince, just as Charles and Diana did with Prince William thirty one years ago.

It’s interesting to note that little Baby Cambridge is the only other boy heir among Europe’s monarchies. The other is Prince Christian of Denmark, the eldest son of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, who recently celebrated his 7th birthday. And isn’t he a cutie?

All the other young heirs are girls: Princess Ingrid of Norway, Princess Estelle of Sweden, Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange, Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant, and Infanta Leonor of Spain.

All in all, it is tremendously exciting for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Earl and Countess of Streathearn, and Baron and Baroness Carrickfergus!

And of course, for we commoners too!!!
