Christ is Risen!!! (in the East?)

Today is Easter or Pascha for all our Orthodox brothers and sisters!!

I was going to write a post explaining why Western and Eastern Christians celebrate Easter on different days. But then I realised I’d have to understand it first, and after a few hours, I realised that was never going happen.

I mean, I now know it has something to do with a lunisolar calendar, Jewish Passover, the Gregorian calendar reforms, and – I couldn’t even make this up if I wanted to – the fact that the Ecclesiastical Full Moon falls a few days after the actual full moon. But how any of that fits together, I haven’t a clue.

But who cares!? Because it’s Orthodox Pascha!!

  1. Uh, yeah, I looked at this one time, and decided I could figure it out, by Christmas, if I was lucky, never mind. 🙂

    He is risen, indeed.

  2. Yeah I read about that somewhere… the author finally wrote at the end that it was just a difference of views in the calender. I nodded and smiled in agreement. lol

    • A very wise response I think. If in doubt, just nod and smile. Nod and smile. Got me thru more classes than is care to admit… 🙂
