“a time for every matter under heaven”

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die;

a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal;

a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;

a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose;

a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and a time to sew;

a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate;

a time for war, and a time for peace. (Ecc 3:1-8)

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, because we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (2 Co 4:16-18)

Lord, you made time and made a time for all things. Help me to accept and rejoice in whatever You see fit to bring this year. Keep my heart fixed on Heaven and my eyes on Christ. Help me to see the unseen things, the eternal weight of glory waiting to be revealed. Help me see them even now Father, because time is short. Every moment of this year, in every season, bring me closer to You. Amen.
